When disaster
strikes your land, your neighbors show up β fast.
Herding Helpers connects farmers, ranchers, and emergency services so the right help arrives at the right time.
Get StartedHow It Works
1. Register Your Property
Map your land and pre-load access routes, water sources, hazards, and livestock locations. That data is instantly visible to every responder the moment an alert fires.
2. Send an Alert
One tap notifies nearby helpers. If no one responds in time, the radius expands automatically. If needed, we escalate directly to your local Fire Chief or emergency services.
3. The Right Help Responds
Helpers list their equipment, skills, and availability. We surface the most relevant responders β not just the nearest ones β so you know exactly what's on the way.
4. Coordinate in Real Time
A shared live map and chat room keeps everyone β property owner, volunteers, and Incident Commander β on the same page from first alert to all-clear.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Herding Helpers only for wildfires? οΌ
No -- while wildfire response is a core use case, the platform supports any agricultural emergency where neighbors and resources need to be quickly coordinated, including severe weather, floods, livestock escapes, and other disasters.
What if I don't have a reliable data connection during an emergency? οΌ
Herding Helpers supports SMS-based alerts as a fallback, so critical notifications reach you even in areas with limited or no mobile data. We're also exploring radio and mesh network integrations for truly remote areas.
Am I liable if something goes wrong when I show up to help? οΌ
We take this seriously. A Good Samaritan agreement is presented at signup and again each time you respond to an incident, so you have clarity on liability protections before you ever turn the key on your tractor.
How does command transfer to the Fire Chief work? οΌ
When the Fire Chief joins an incident, command formally transfers from the property owner to the Incident Commander via a defined in-app handoff. The transfer is announced in the shared chat room so every helper knows who is directing the response.
Can I use Herding Helpers outside of an emergency? οΌ
Absolutely. Our community mutual aid feed lets neighbors post non-emergency requests -- borrowing equipment, sharing labor, or just staying connected. Keeping the community active day-to-day means faster, better response when it counts most.
